1691-1745. Zhang, Zhao, 1691-1745 . Quan shan jin ke : 20 juan, 240 chu, juan shou 1 juan [China] : Nei fu, Qing Qianlong, [i.e. between 1736 and 1795]Editorial principles
Created by encoding transcription from printed text.
The transcribed text follows the layout and the original punctuations of the eighteenth-century manuscript.
The selected two scenes are taken from an eighteenth-century manuscript edition of the Chinese court play Quanshan jinke (Golden Register for Promoting Goodness). Emperor Qianlong (r. 1736-95) ordered Zhang Zhao to compile this grand drama (daxi) with ritual elements from Buddhist and Daoist traditions.
This is part of the TEXTCOURT Project attempt at creating a TEI-encoded digital edition of the play. TEXTCOURT: Linking the Textual Worlds of Chinese Court Theater, ca. 1600-1800 is a five-year research project led by Professor Tian Yuan Tan (Shaw Professor of Chinese at the University of Oxford) , aiming to build a digital archive of Chinese court drama scripts in order to establish and explore links among the textual worlds of Chinese court drama. This project has received funding from the European Research Council (ERC) under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme (grant agreement No. 819953).
